5 Things to Do After a Stressful Day/Week

You've been waiting all day for this moment, the bell tolls and you run out of that place as if the devil was chasing you. You're just about done with life, you finished that five page essay, turned in that extremely long math assignment, finished that group project, and to top it off had to deal with your job. Now you're looking for ways to de-stress, here are five ways to de-stress after a long week.

  1. Netflix

One sure way a good majority of the population lets go of the problems from the week is by laying down in their bed, putting their headphones in, and watching a good show on Netflix.  You've probably been so busy all week, you may have not gotten the chance to take a breather and watch some TV. To mix things up, grab your best friends and make it a day where you guys all catch up on your shows. Grab the popcorn, blankets, and turn the TV on! You can even start a series together or watch a scary movie together. Whatever floats your boat! If you’re having trouble figuring out what to watch, look up best movies or shows of the year and choose which ever looks interesting.

  1. Yoga

One great way to release stress is to take up yoga. Yoga is an activity that is known to release stress and truly relax a person. If you've never had a yoga class before, you can look up the nearest place giving lessons and decide to take a class. If you’re not into yoga or simply don't have the money, you can look up indoor relaxing exercises on YouTube. I personally enjoy looking up stretching routines on YouTube to improve my flexibility as well as relax. Remember the more you stretch, the easier and more relaxing it will be.

  1. Going Out

If staying in isn't what you like to do, grab some friends and choose a destination. Some common places to visit are the bowling alley, the skating ring, or maybe a community hangout. Sometimes after being trapped inside all week, a change of scenery is what you need. Sometimes it isn't always apparent, you may need that extra push to venture out when all you wanna do is find your bed. Trust me, you won't regret it, especially when it's with people who will make sure you have fun.

  1. Hobbies

One way you can relax is by doing what you love most. Some people like to draw or paint, while others prefer to do their favorite sport (I know I do, gymnastics is basically my life). These hobbies can provide a way to escape our day to day lives and simply do something for ourselves. I could be having the most stressful day of my life, but as soon as I start my warm-up for practice, I instantly forget I was stressed at all. Hobbies are a great way to focus on yourself. If you don't have a hobby, it's never too late to start one. There are countless hobbies to choose from, from collecting pennies to extreme sports.

  1. Nap

Maybe what you really need to de-stress is a good, old fashion nap. Most people look to napping as their look to way of getting rid of stress, why not? A majority of the population does not get the required eight hours of sleep. Spending the weekend catching up on some Z's is a great way to not only recuperate, but to get ready for the impending week. Some people like to take one long nap, while others prefer a short nap, and if you’re special like me, you take what ever opportunity you get to take a nap, no matter how long.

So there you have it, five great ways to get rid of stress after a long and hard day. Monday morning, with all the stress of the week behind you, you will look forward with even more hope as you've abandoned the old stress and look towards more. On the bright side, you can look forward to your next opportunity to de-stress with even more enthusiasm.
